Help for Helpless (HforH) is a charitable organisation working in health and education. We focused on emergency rescue and relief to people in accidents or health emergencies, organ donation, and long-term community welfare in health and education. Our strength lies in our extraordinary team of dedicated volunteers, an influential collective of medical professionals, social activists, teachers, and lawyers who pool their diverse skills to deliver maximum support to those in need. This collaborative spirit extends to our partnerships; we work closely with government departments and public and private sector organisations to amplify our reach and impact.
At HforH, we believe that a prepared and healthy community is a resilient community, and we continuously strive to empower our neighbours with the resources and knowledge needed to navigate and overcome life’s most challenging moments.
H for H owes its origins to community action that took place in Paravoor Government Hospital during the Chikan Gunia episode in 2007. As the number of patients requiring medical attention increased manifold, the hospital’s existing systems could not keep up. At that point, several community volunteers came forward to support the doctors in addressing the situation. This relationship between the doctors and the community volunteers continued even after the epidemic had passed. The volunteers then began working with the doctors to provide rapid assistance to accident victims and to care for patients in the hospital who had no one else to support them socially or financially; hence the name Help for Helpless.

H for H is an entirely voluntary organisation, registered under the Travancore - Cochin Literary, Scientific and Charitable Societies Registration Act XII of 1955. The membership consists of medical professionals, social activists, teachers and volunteers who pool together their skills to deliver maximum support to the community.
Volunteers are the foundation of H for H. They are organised into groups of ten, each led by a team leader responsible for the availability and well-being of the volunteers in their group. All volunteers receive training in health and safety, legal matters, and ethical considerations. Since volunteers may encounter traumatic events, counseling support is also provided to them.
H for H has a democratic, transparent management structure. It has an executive body elected by the members. The Executive body then elects the president and other office bearers. The current office bearers are:
In addition to the executive committee, members and the volunteers, H FOR H benefits from close association with many partners. The local city council, people’s representatives, the local police, and the road transport department all provide full support for the organisation’s activities.
