Blood Donation

A single blood donation can save up to three lives.
At Help for Helpless (H FOR H), we believe in the power of this simple act to make a profound difference. As a charitable organization dedicated to health and education, our Blood Donation initiative is a lifeline for patients in critical need, including accident victims, mothers during childbirth, and those battling chronic illnesses.

Blood cannot be manufactured; it must come from a generous volunteer, and because the demand for blood is constant while the supply often falls short, donating directly helps close this critical gap.

Furthermore, the donation process itself benefits the donor by including a free mini-health screening of one’s pulse, blood pressure, temperature, and Haemoglobin levels, offering a valuable Donor Health Check. Finally, this selfless act carries significant Community Impact, inspiring others and fostering a collective sense of responsibility for public health.

Join Our Registered Free Donors Database

H for H maintains a comprehensive database of committed, registered free blood donors who can be contacted quickly when blood is urgently needed in the community.

Basic eligibility requires donors to be between 18 and 65 years old with a minimum Weight of 50 kg, and to be in good health and free from any infectious or transmissible diseases, with a minimum Haemoglobin level of 12.5 g/dL. Additionally, you need to wait at least 3 months between donations. Please note that if you have recently experienced a fever, cold, or flu, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have recently had a tattoo or piercing (which requires a deferral period), you will not be able to donate. It’s also important to consider any chronic health conditions you may have. Make sure to rest adequately and have a light meal before your donation.

Anyone can join, with no commitment beyond your willingness to donate when you are able and called upon. To register, call our Helpline Number [94000 00108] and tell the volunteer you want to register as a free donor. You will then provide your contact details, blood group, and basic eligibility information, and we will contact you when a patient in your area needs your specific blood group.
